I used to take my Expy up there.

You guys should go past Mountain Springs, then into Lovell Canyon. You can take it up and over towards Pahrump, then right and over Wheeler's pass. A GREAT day of off roading.

Comes out up the 95 North just south of Indian Springs . . .

Gerg have you ever been up to the little shot gun happy comunity on the Pahrump side up at trout creek ?

actually gerg that trip has been our minds for sometime now.but like you said .... i havent been up ther in a while and dont know how well the trail is still. any ideas?

We have a cabin up up in Trout Creek and we run that road to bird hunt and go shooting all the time the only prob is alot of trash from people that cant clean up there own mess we usually fill a few trash bags . If you go in winter I suggest you start on the Pahrump side not as bad of a clime if you run into snow.

Yep, a longer, slower climb from Pahrump side, and a lot to do if you hit the snow level and have to turn around.

From the north it gets pretty steep all of a sudden, and the sucky thing is normally (when I was doing it) if you hit the snow level and it is not passable, you are Soooooooooooooo close to the summit . . . but no dice.

There are some charcoal kilns to see on the Pahrump side too.

It's been a while, but I am pretty sure these guys go off into the wash like we did towards the end. I seem to remember there is a 'decent' road over the pass, but the washes are the fun things. We did this when it was snow packed with 5 Expeditions back in 2001.

I am going to look for my old pics on some CDs now . . .

This is the Wheeler Pass route we took.

HELL YEAH!
I would like to try it in the 40 hps, but im thinking ill need the 1679 and my tires on rear. These street tires i can make go damn far, but theres some spots i see on that vid and in your pic where im gonna need a tad more traction.
But my saying is "if a pile tundra can handle it, ill be juuuust fine"
LOL.
